The bookdown book is a very well written one, but I was wondering how many hard-copies of the bookdown book have been sold, as the online version is sufficient, or even better for most readers. My university's library bought one at my request and I read it many times. But I have not read it since I released the package bookdownplus. The online version is more often referred.
Writing a book is a totally another world, while publishing a book is the third world. The publish house for my book 'Leaning R' processes neither .Rmd files nor .tex files, both produced by bookdown, and does not accept compiled pdf files. I just got to know that some patient editors have been spending months on the color or highlighting of each element in the code blocks in my book, because this book is to be printed in color. I felt so guilty and asked them to stop it immediately and make all the code blocks in black and white......

Great reflections. All praise to you Yihui. Somehow I wish I can across knitr during my university days. But then came bookdown, which flipped my world upside down. Now I have managed to author two technical instructional manuals for first year students and it's my go to place if I want to get even simple reports written.
