I think they should 'git svn clone' all packages, and put repos up on Github or some server of their own. I feel bad (wasting server time) when I git svn clone a directory because it has to search through so many revisions. This would also make things easier to follow by RSS without seeing all the version bumps and trivial changes. The SVN repo could remain the canonical one, as is the case for Emacs ESS, separate from their Github presence.
