I was a close personal friend of John's, and we often discussed his work in statistics. But much of it was WAY over my head. It is a pleasure to read a tribute to him from someone who is in his field and could truly appreciate both his expertise and his kindness. Thank you for sharing your memories; it is particularly meaningful for those of us who knew him outside of a professional context.
