Though you have written about your struggles with English, I think your writing skill is unequivocally great (not without effort and struggle). There is so much to read in the blogosphere, but I somehow keep coming back to yours; even if the topic does not have an explicit gain. This post of the RStudio conference through your perspective was refreshing, fun, relaxing, and informative (kind of like your talks; laughs + useful content).
I am not sure if your life as a raconteur in an alternate universe is as equally successful as your R package development life. But maybe you should give it a try when the R community demands less of you. I'd buy your first non-technical book.
Keep reading and writing. I admire your appreciation for all things interesting (and things that are not immediately useful to you, but end up being thought-provoking and influential).
On another note, to say I am flattered would be the least. I was not aware you even noticed who I am. I feel I know so little, but your comments give me hope. Thank you for the kind words, and your diligent contributions to the world I operate in. Hope to run into you again at some point.
All the best,
Josh

Thank you so much for mentioning me! That means a lot to me! Your blogs always make my day. And the RStudio conference was a great experience for me and I have learned a lot from y'all. I really enjoyed working with you and other awesome Instructor and TAs.
Your thoughts have been influential on me when developing/programming products since I learned to think and solve issues from users' perspectives, feel the pain from users perspective.

I asked Christophe, a native French, to record the pronunciation of the name “Romain Lesur” on my phone
That's brilliant! My go-to move is to try to find a video of someone saying their own name online (a saving grace when I had to introduce Mine as part of the tidyverse panel at rstudio::conf 2018), but it's not always possible. I'm sorry we didn't get to meet this time around!
I wouldn’t notice it even if you pull an elephant into the room and walk it around while I’m giving the talk.
I feel this, too. I honest-to-goodness cannot remember what I said after I give a talk. It's almost like a fugue state for me. It's actually one of the reasons I appreciate when people tweet something they thought was noteworthy — otherwise, I'd never know I said it.
As always, thank you for all you do. 🙏
