When we introduce our lab work to others, my mentor suggests us avoid using adjectives like "important", "interesting", etc., instead, describe what we are doing, and why we do it. it is a good training. When we use objectives, it is easy to ignore the information that should be included in the conversation.
In communication with friends, I often find myself using a lot of adjectives. Though I try hard to pick the appropriate ones that are close to my feeling, the gaps between words and feelings or logics always exist. However, the conversation will sounds boring, if I remove the adjectives. So I surrender to Wittgenstein`s Language game theory, and persuade myself to sacrifice accuracy for the rule of the language game that is established among people. But sometimes, people just go too far.
I remember you have mentioned this topic briefly in one or two of your posts. I think the abuse of adjectives is one of the disasters in a society that thinks too few, but talks too much.
